32-year-old American exchanges Torino for Heroes Den Bosch.

Head coach Erik Braal can add 'Swiss Army knife' Demario Mayfield to his new team for the 2023/2024 basketball season. The experienced, versatile guard/forward played in Den Bosch two seasons ago and contributed 14.5 points, 6 rebounds, and almost 4 assists per game. In Ferrara and Torino, he posted similar stats and reached the promotion finals to the Serie A with the latter club.

Technical manager Roel van de Graaf qualifies Mayfield as a top player: "He had a very good season in the Maaspoort (Heroes reached the playoffs finals, ultimately losing to Leiden) and we had verbally agreed to an extension at the time. When bigger leagues began to show interest in him, a new contract became unattainable, and he chose Italy. We know Demario as a complete player and a true winner with a strong personality. Unfortunately, our fans had little opportunity to enjoy him live due to all the Corona-related issues back then, but that is going to change now!"

Mayfield himself is also excited about his return to the Netherlands: "My family and I had a great time in Den Bosch back then and indeed discussed a second year. Life in Italy was fine, and the sporting performances were good too, but I have a strong desire to perform on a European stage and compete for titles in the new BNXT League. Moreover, my interactions with Coach Braal have been positive. We share the same basketball philosophy and have the same goals in mind. I'm really looking forward to contributing to a team that will captivate fans and sponsors."

In addition to Demario Mayfield, the Heroes Den Bosch team already includes three other American players: Austin Price, DJ Fenner, and Austin Luke. The Dutch core consists of Boy van Vliet, Jito Kok, Thomas van der Mars, and Keime Helfrich. The power forward position is still being filled, and the roster will be supplemented by two players from the Heroes Basketball Academy.

Welcome S2324 Mayfield
