Contract with Demario Mayfield terminated due to private circumstances

American player Demario Mayfield of Heroes Den Bosch informed the club management on Monday of his desire to terminate his contract. Unforeseen circumstances in his private life were the reasonbehind the request from the 32-year-old guard. "It's a blow to the team and a significant loss in the upcoming BNXT games and in preparation for our European campaign. However, we have shown understanding for his explanation and immediately shifted our focus to our first home game in the Maaspoort tomorrow night against Leeuwarden," said head coach Erik Braal.

Mayfield himself is also disappointed and had envisioned something different for this season. "I didn't come back to the Maaspoort for nothing. I had a strong season in Italy and despite much interest, I chose Den Bosch. I have a good connection with Coach Braal, and the organization is familiar to me. It's unfortunate that I had to make this decision, but I am confident that despite my situation and the very unlucky preparation, the organization will have a good season," Mayfield stated.

Technical Manager Roel van de Graaf added, "It's unfortunate for both parties. Demario didn't ask for problems, and as a club, we certainly didn't want this. This means we are looking for a strong replacement, preferably in the short term. In the coming weeks, we will not be complete due to the absence of Austin Luke and Emmanuel Akot, while DJ Fenner has returned from Turkey with a minor injury."
